River Culture

Do you live near a river or waterway? I'm fortunate enough to live in a beautiful region with an amazing river. I walk along the banks of our river everyday as it winds and rolls through several towns. I enjoy our river in every season and adore anticipating and watching it's face change with every season.

Sometimes I go on small quiet adventures with my Veteran friends like hiking, camping and canoeing. They are all so experienced in the outdoors, I can gain access to scenic places I wouldn't be able to without them holding my hand over slippery rocks.

I've been planning with one of my best Veteran friends a canoeing, camping adventure for ages now and finally the planning is almost complete and the season almost here. We have spent over a year planning our route and figuring out the logistics so we have a safe and enjoyable time. I've been dreaming about what I'll see and as always I'll have my sketchbook with me.

We will paddle to our destination and set up camp and I can lollop around on a picnic blanket, drinking wine and sketching flora and fauna. I love this part of the plan when I have to pack all my kit and my Veteran friends make sure I have everything I need and it's my good pleasure to make the sandwiches. This is my idea of super great adventure how about you?
